About Jacob G. Vigil

Jacob G. Vigil is the namesake of the Vigil Law Firm, P. A. He has practiced law for 40 years, and is highly respected within the legal community. Throughout his career, Mr. Vigil has doggedly worked for justice with the goal of keeping families safe. He is currently prosecuting medical negligence, products liability, trucking accidents, and other catastrophic injury cases. While every case is different, and it is impossible to predict the outcome of any case, Mr. Vigil has consistently provided his clients with outstanding representation and compensation. Mr. Vigil has tried over 100 jury trials since beginning his career in the late 1970’s, and his cases have received national attention for establishing favorable law for the public.

Throughout his career, Mr. Vigil has always chosen quality over quantity in representing his clients. He only takes on a limited number of cases a year in order to provide his clients with the greatest possible dedication, attention to detail, and quality of representation. Due to the tragic nature and personal harm suffered by the clients he represents, he is dedicated to providing the highest standards of quality in seeking justice. He does not waiver in his dedication to his clients and, as a result, they often form strong bonds and remain in contact long after the case has been completed. Mr. Vigil treats every case as a special case and is committed to thorough representation for every client. Clients of Vigil Law Firm, P.A. are seen as people, not just cases, because Jake Vigil firmly believes in personal interaction and teaming up with his clients to fight for the justice they deserve.

In recognition of his incredibly high level of ethics and professional service, he has received the much coveted and highly regarded Martindale Hubbell “AV” Preeminent rating. This rating is reserved for the top 1% in the legal profession as determined by a peer review of the quality standards for legal representation and ethics. Due to his extensive experience and high respect amongst his peers, he has received several accolades, and is honored to have served as the President of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and on the American Trial Lawyers Association’s Board of Governors.

He is also a faculty member of the prestigious Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming.

As an example of the high esteem in which Mr. Vigil is held within the legal community, he has assisted lawyers from virtually all 50 states with their cases. He has also given presentations and conducted hundreds of focus juries throughout the United States and Canada.

Other examples of his prolific work in the legal field can be found in the numerous published articles he has authored for periodicals such as Trial Magazine published by the American Association of Justice, formerly known as American Association of Trial Lawyers. He is also the author of the “New Mexico & Federal Evidence Handbook,” a popular reference guide found on the benches and desks of many judges and attorneys.

Mr. Vigil has garnered valuable experience throughout his long and illustrious career by practicing in both the criminal and civil justice systems, and across a broad spectrum of legal issues. He has served as a prosecutor, judge, adjunct professor and a trial lawyer, and these experiences allow him insight into all possible aspects and angles of a case.
